The fascist Weber jugends vandalised the hotel where the MCC was to hold a conference
At dawn on Tuesday, a group calling themselves “anti-fascists” vandalised the Stanhope Hotel in Brussels with eggs. Their target? To disrupt a legitimate, peaceful and open intellectual event hosted by the MCC Brussels. This latest truly pathetic act of cowardice and attempted intimidation is a worrying moment for democracy in the heart of Europe. They are trying to scare the staff of the venues into banning the holding of rallies.
The MCC Brussels issued a statement saying that ‘we will not bow down to mobs masquerading as “defenders of the sexual minority”, who use authoritarian tactics to silence those with whom they disagree. The group’s actions, disguised behind righteous slogans, reek of the fascism they claim to be fighting.”
“What we saw was not a demonstration – it was a threat. And it was not only directed against MCC Brussels. It was a warning shot to anyone – left, right or centre – who dares to question the militant orthodoxy of these self-appointed arbiters of acceptable thought.” -writes MCC Brussels.
“Europe has entered a dangerous era where reasoned debate is drowned out by cries of intolerance and intimidation. If this is allowed to continue, today they will come for us, and tomorrow they will come for anyone who differs even slightly from their rigid worldview.”
The MCC said the conference would be held at another venue.
